Aureo sale 261, lot 233

This specimen was lot 233 in Aureo y Calicó sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €340 (about US$545 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1624. Felipe IV. Segovia. R. 8 reales. Rayitas. Fecha y ceca perfectas. Muy rara. (MBC-). (Philip IV (1621-65), eight reales of 1624, Segovia mint. Scratches, date and mintmark clear, very rare, about very fine.)"

This type was issued intermittently at Segovia 1621-28 and 1642, simultaneously with milled eight reales. The aqueduct was the mintmark for the Segovia mint until it closed in the 1840's.
