This specimen was lot 20383 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 5 Pounds, AH 1401 (1981). NGC MS-66. Reported mintage of 1,000 and with a population of two and none finer at NGC. Deep hard mirrored fields and frosty devices. No spots, tone or fog. An appealing example of the issue." This Non-Circulating Legal Tender issue honored the 25th anniversary of the nationalization of the Suez Canal by Nasser. It is accompanied by a gold pound (KM 529).

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: 26 g, 0.875 fine gold, .726 troy oz AGW.
