This specimen was lot 43112 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $5,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 5 Pounds, AH 1401/1981. Cairo Mint. PCGS PROOF-64 Deep Cameo. Commemorating the third anniversary of the reopening of the Suez Canal, this type is VERY RARE in proof, as can be seen by its low mintage figure. An exceptional cameo nature is noted, with near-Gem quality evident throughout." this topic also appeared on a gold pound (Fr-142).

Recorded mintage: 925 plus 75 proofs.
