This specimen was lot 73359 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 4 Reales, 1791-L IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV. PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, Fine Details Gold Shield. Still featuring the bust of the former king, Charles III, this minor clearly saw its fair share of circulation, and despite its light graffiti, remains a great example of the type." This type is listed for Peru 1789-91 and is quite scarce. The fineness was lowered from .903 to .896 in 1785. Assayer IJ is recorded for 1787-1803.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.896 fine silver, .380 troy oz ASW

Catalog reference: Cayón-13706, KM 86.
