The first specimen was lot 24605 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 4 Reales, 1790-L IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV (1788-1808). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details Secure Holder. Transitional type of Charles IV with portrait of Charles III. Nicely toned, problem free. Ex: Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 06/2011 sale# 160, lot# 8439." This type is listed for Peru 1789-91 and is quite scarce. The fineness was lowered from .903 to .896 in 1785. Assayer IJ is recorded for 1787-1803.
