This two reales from Peru is a transitional type, bearing the bust of the deceased Charles III but bearing the name of Charles IV. It was issued 1789-91. The assayer IJ appears for 1787-1800. A variety exists (KM 85.2) with the denomination written "R2" instead of the usual "2R".
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: 6.77 grams, 0.896 fine silver, .195 troy oz ASW.
