This half cent piece was struck 1912-17 and 1926 for Ceylon. During the reign of George V, quarter, half and one cent pieces were issued in copper, five cents in copper-nickel, and ten, twenty-five and fifty cents in billon (low grade silver). Ceylon attained its independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 (most common date).

Specification: 2.35 g, copper, 18.2 mm diameter, plain edge.
