This specimen was lot 30227 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof 50 Cents 1926 PR66 NGC. A gorgeous flaw-free Proof striking with a palette of mixed gold, olive, green and magenta patina atop glinting, perfectly struck surfaces. A most-desirable issue and the first Proof striking of its kind that we have offered." Ceylon attained her independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka. This type was struck 1919-29.

Recorded mintage: 500,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 5.83 g, .550 fine silver, 23.8 mm diameter.
