This specimen was lot 23331 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "CEYLON. 50 Cents, 1919-B. Bombay Mint. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Pop: 1; none graded finer by PCGS. A well struck coin with pleasing frosty original surfaces and even, medium gray toning." This type was struck 1919-29 and is the last silver fifty cents. It was the same weight as the Indian half rupee but lower in fineness. Ceylon, famous for tea, attained its independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka.
