This half rupee was struck at the Bombay mint after World War One. It was never minted in the immense numbers of the George V rupees but it is not rare, being struck steadily 1912-30, 1933-36. This date is common but the prooflike restrikes are rare. A few restrikes are known for Calcutta, which did not strike any half rupees for circulation in 1919. The minting of rupees effectively ceased after 1922.
Recorded mintage: 8,958,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 5.83 g, 0.917 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 522.
