This 1/2 pice (one-eighth of an anna or 1/128 of a rupee) was struck at the Calcutta mint. It was the lowest denomination of the British coinage for India. It was struck in moderate numbers throughout the Raj until 1942. This type was struck only at Calcutta.
Recorded mintage: 11,162,000 plus proofs and restrikes.
Specification: 2.4 g, bronze, 21.05 mm diameter.
