This specimen was lot 29189 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Colony - George V Proof 25 Cents 1926 PR65 PCGS. For the toning enthusiast, a coin of essentially unsurpassable appeal with fiery green, orange, yellow and red color over both sides. Rare and very desirable as a Proof striking." Ceylon attained her independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka. This type was struck 1919-26 and is common. It is a debased version of a type issued 1911-17.
