The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1712, Zürich. Stempel in der Jahreszahl aus 1708 geändert. Very rare. Extremely fine. Minor edge bump." This scarce type was struck 1707-16 along with quarter ([[Zurich 1714 1/4 ducat Fr-488|Fr-488]]), half ([[Zurich 1709 1/2 ducat Fr-487|Fr-487a]]) and single ducats ([[Zurich 1709 ducat Fr-486|Fr-486a]]). In 1798, the canton of Zurich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

This specimen was lot 5316 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$11,985 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1712, Zürich. Stempel in der Jahreszahl aus 1708 geändert. Very rare. Extremely fine. Minor edge bump." This scarce type was struck 1707-16 along with quarter (Fr-488), half (Fr-487a) and single ducats (Fr-486a). In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
