SB121-24206r.jpg

This specimen was lot 24206 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1892-Do ND. Durango Mint. PCGS MS-62. Offering some alluring gunmetal gray surfaces, this lustrous and shimmering example presents some darker toning near the peripheries." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95. Assayer ND (Norberto Dominguez, 1892-95) shares this date with assayer JP (J. Miguel Palma, 1890-92). JP is common, ND is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 1,597,000 (including assayer JP).

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-377.4; DP-Do82.
