This specimen was lot 30428 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,056.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1821 LM-JP AU50 NGC, Lima mint. An attractive example, with limited friction evidence and substantial luster remaining in the fields with appealing apricot toning. Scarce in this preservation." This coin was minted 1814-21 and turns up more often than the Mexican coin of the same type.
