This specimen was lot 4457 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$508 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, Halbbatzen 1795, Solothurn. Silberabschlag. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Simmen-HMZ erwähnen ein Auktionsvorkommen bei Leo Hamburger, Frankfurt/Main von 1913, Los 484. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, half batzen of 1795, Solothurn mint, struck in silver. Very rare, Very Fine. Simmen-HMZ mention an auction occurrence at Leo Hamburger in 1913.)"
In Germany, the convention thaler was 120 kreuzer but 160 kreuzer in Switzerland. The reverse motto, "CUNCTA PER DEUM", translates as, "United by God." This type was struck 1760-62, 1787, 1793-96. Most dates are common in circulated condition but this example is an off-metal strike.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specifications: 1.69 g, billon, 23 mm diameter, this specimen silver, 2.18 g.
