Künker sale 293, lot 1867

This specimen was lot 1867 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €460 (about US$620 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"FRANKREICH, KÖNIGREICH, Louis XV, 1715-1774. 1/2 Ecu au bandeau 1763, P, Dijon. Attraktives, fast vorzügliches Exemplar. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, half écu of the hair ribbon of 1763, Dijon mint. Attractive, about exremely fine example.)"

The Dijon mint struck this type 1741-42, 1748, 1750-52, 1754-57, 1759, 1761-70 but most dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 9,130[1].

Specification: 14.74 g, 0.917 fine silver, 31-33 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
