France 1763-Z 1/10 ecu

This diminutive coin, called a dixième d'écu au bandeau, was the French equivalent of a dime. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the dixième d'écu = 12 sols. The type was struck 1740-70 and is recorded for the Grenoble mint ("Z") in small quantities for 1741-44, 1747-50, 1752-60, 1762-66.

Recorded mintage: 16,471. The SCWC lists this date as somewhat scarce but Droulers^[1] lists this date at about double the common date (1744-A or 1746-A).

Specification: 2.95 g, 0.917 fine silver, 22 mm diameter.
