This specimen was lot 2783 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,141 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANKREICH, Louis XV. 1715-1774. louis d'or au bandeau 1763, Pau. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. Minimal justiert (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, gold louis of the hair ribbon, pau mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Minor adjustment marks)." This type was struck 1740-71 at all the mints of France. Most dates are rare; this one is fairly common. Specification: 8.158 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge; this specimen 8.14 g.
