This specimen was lot 3884 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €500 (about US$654 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANKFURT, STADT. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1764. RR Feine Patina, justiert, vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, half convention thaler of 1764. Rare, fine patina, adjustment marks, extremely fine.)"
After ceasing to mint half thalers in 1717, the city of Frankfurt suddenly emitted six different types in the period 1762-66. This burst of activity paralleled a similar issue of thalers. Other half thalers of 1764 (KM 220.2, KM 231) have a circle around the eagle.
