This type was struck by the free city of Frankfurt am Main in 1773. Its face value of one kreuzer = 4 pfennig = 8 heller. City view thalers were issued in many areas but city views on small change such as this are unusual. Frankfurt issued kreuzers before and after this type but they do not have city views. Frankfurt was annexed by Prussia in 1866 and its coinage ceased.
