This specimen was lot 40534 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $2,185. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Taler, 1772-PCB. NGC MS-65. Lightly toned and very attractive. NGC MS-65. Demarete Collection." This one year type is the only thaler of Frankfurt in the eighteenth century to feature a city view. The next issue of thalers was in 1776 (Dav-2227).
