This specimen was lot 23142 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1730-Mo G/R. Mexico City Mint. Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, VF Details Gold Shield. Boldly dated with an easily identifiable overassayer. The aforementioned 'tooling', while widespread, is not easily identifiable until inspected with a loupe." This type was struck 1729-33, most survivors are without dates. Assayers for the year included G, R, G/R.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 26.71 g.
