Aureo y Calicó sale 423, lot 1689

This specimen was lot 1689 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 90 € (about US$117 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "1796/5. Carlos IV. Santiago. DA. 1 real. Graded NGC as Fine Details Rev. Damage, no. 2892734-0014. Test cut on reverse. Ex Fleming Collection 06/03/2021, no. 260. Val and Mexía Collection. Scarce. BC/BC+ [fine or better]." This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types.
