Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70359

This specimen was lot 70359 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. Real, 1794-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. NGC VF Details--Corrosion. A more difficult type no matter the noted corrosion and moderate level of handling, this minor serves as an excellent space filler for the date." Altho this type earns little premium over contemporary the Mexico City issue, it is much scarcer.

Recorded mintage: 54,000.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.896 fine silver, .097 troy oz ASW.
