Lisbon Mint. Joao V. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details." This type is catalogued in the SCWC as a one escudo even tho it is about 6% heavier than a Spanish escudo. It was struck in Lisbon 1724-49 and scarcer than catalog values indicate.

This specimen was lot 43253 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. Escudo, 1723. Lisbon Mint. Joao V. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details." This type is catalogued in the SCWC as a one escudo even tho it is about 6% heavier than a Spanish escudo. It was struck in Lisbon 1723-31 and scarcer than catalog values indicate.
