This specimen was lot 2563 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$569 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg II. 1727-1760. 1/3 Taler 1728, Clausthal. Feinsilber. Mit der Münzmeistersignatur CPS. Selten (Rare). NGC MS62. Feine Patina (Nicely toned)." The 12 mariengroschen was terminated after 1715. This one-third thaler, which superseded it, was struck 1727-29.
