SB823-55574r.jpg

This specimen was lot 55574 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 6 Mariengroschen, 1713-HH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg I Ludwig (future George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-55. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1712-15 with mintmaster's initials "HH" and is fairly common. A six mariengroschen with St. Andrew on the reverse (KM 63) exists for 1711-13 but has mintmaster's initials HCB. Another six mariengroschen has the leaping stallion on the reverse (KM 86). Six mariengroschen was one sixth of a thaler or a quarter gulden.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-71; Welter-2183.
