Heritage sale 3076, lot 31398

This specimen was lot 31398 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $2,100. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Egypt. United Arab Republic gold 100 Pounds AH 1412 (1992) MS69 NGC. Struck to commemorate hockey at the summer Olympics in Barcelona. Mirror-like, glassy surfaces, the devices having a slightly matte finish. Bold designs and essentially pristine. A fantastic piece for the collector of modern coins." This is one of eight gold NCLT's issued for the 1992 Summer Olympics. All were minted in trifling amounts and are today rare.
