This specimen was lot 33982 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "British India. George V 1/2 Rupee 1913-(c) MS65 PCGS, Calcutta mint. A sharply sculpted jewel expressing fluid mint luster that whirls about the surfaces when rotated in hand. Scarce in this gem conditional state." This half rupee was struck at the Calcutta mint before World War One. The type was struck 1912-36 and is fairly common tho less so than the rupee. This date is common tho the proofs are rare.

Recorded mintage: 2,723,000 plus 1,825,000 from Bombay.

Specification: 5.83 g, 0.917 fine silver, .170 troy oz ASW.
