Sincona sale 26, lot 3879

This specimen was lot 3879 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$988 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Halbdukat 1716. Fast vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt. (city of Zurich, half ducat of 1716. Choice extremely fine, slightly bent.)"

This type was struck without change 1712, 1714, 1716 yet remains scarce. The later type of 1718-67 is somewhat more available.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.75 g, .979 fine gold, .055 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 1.70 g.
