This specimen was part of lot 1137 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), which sold for $2,010. The catalog description[2] noted, "Israel. 50 and 100 Lirot, 1962. Fr-2, 3; KM-40, 41. With 'mem.' For the 10th Anniversary of the Death of Chaim Weizmann. Choice Brilliant Proof." This is the first issue of this denomination tho it is safe to say that no gold coin of Israel actually circulated. Massive influx of aid from the United States fueled inflation and coinage reforms in 1960, 1980 and 1985.
Recorded mintage: 6,185 proofs, Berne mint.
Specification: 13.34 g, .917 fine gold, 27 mm diameter.
