Israel (1961) 10 agorot
This specimen was lot 73848 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $40. The catalog description[1] noted, "ISRAEL. 10 Agorot, JE 5721 (1961). Berne Mint. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. Variety with "Fatha" in Arabic. The RARE variety, this example displays good details, despite the noted cleaning." Rapid inflation destroyed the value of the 1949 series and the coinage was reformed in 1960 to 100 agorot = one lira. This type of 1960-77 did circulate. This variety with "Fatha" in Arabic is scarce.
