This type was struck 1960-77 for Israel in moderate numbers but enough were saved that most dates are very cheap. Depending on the year, they were struck at Tel Aviv, Jerusalem (shown here), Bern or Ottawa. This specimen bears Hebrew date 5731 ("תשל"א"). Those bearing the Star of David privy mark were struck in copper-nickel for the collector sets.
Recorded mintage: 6,810,000.
Specification: 4.34 g, aluminum-bronze, 21.5 mm diameter.
