This specimen is one of the later dates from the Durango mint. The Durango mint opened in 1811 and closed in 1895. Most of the later dates are plentiful but this specimen is an overdate, 1886/3, which is somewhat scarce. This coin is the plate specimen in the Dunigan-Parker[1] book. Assayer MC is recorded for 1882-90.

Recorded mintage: 955,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
