This specimen was lot 68 in Schulman auction 388 (Amsterdam, December 2025), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$4,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Piedfort zilveren dukaat, ZEELAND Provincie 1580 - 1795, 1694, Silver Type IIb. Staande ridder met provinciewapen aan lint . ♖. MO. NO. ARG. PRO. CONFCE. BELG˙ COM. ZEL. Kz. generaliteitswapen tussen jaartal, ❀˙❀ boven de kroon en met CON˙CORDIA en CRESCUN. Gladde rand. Uit de Zeeuwse Leeuw collectie. R. Zeldzaam jaartal. Zeer fraai +. (piefort silver ducat of 1694, province of Zeeland, silver type IIb. Obverse: standing knight holds the provincial arms by a ribbon; reverse: crowned provincial arms divide the date, plain edge. From the Zeeland Lion collection, rare date, very fine or better.)"

The single silver ducat was struck for Zeeland, a province of the Netherlands, 1660-1794. The silver ducat is priced fairly low in the SCWC but is seldom seen at American coin shows; the double ducat is rare and was issued only sporadically. This is the second one we have posted on this site.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 56.5 g, 0.986 fine silver, 44 mm diameter, this specimen 55.84 g.
