Sincona sale 26, lot 3538

This specimen was lot 3538 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$463 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Silberdukat 1792. Gutes vorzüglich. (Netherlands, province of Zeeland, silver ducat of 1792, good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck throughout the eighteenth century until 1794. The SCWC catalogs this as Dav-4914, which is only correct for the pre-1700 issues. The weak strike on this specimen is common on this series.

Recorded mintage: 2,389,000 for 1792-94.

Specification: 28.25 g, 0.873 fine silver, .792 troy oz ASW, this specimen 27.62 g.
