Sincona sale 26, lot 3537

This specimen was lot 3537 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"1/2 Dukaton 1790. Vorzüglich. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand (Netherlands, province of Zeeland, half ducaton of 1790, extremely fine, hairlines on rim.)"

This type was struck in Zeeland 1766-75, 1785, 1790-93 in some numbers but is much scarcer than the accompanying ducaton (Dav-1836).

Recorded mintage: 339,000.

Specification: 16.39 g, 0.941 fine silver, .495 troy oz ASW, this specimen 16.25 g.
