Zeeland 1773 1/2 ducaton
This specimen was lot 239 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it sold for €170 (about US$241 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ZEELAND Provincie 1580 - 1795. 1/2 Dukaton of 1/2 Zilveren rijder, 1773, Silver Type II. Ruiter naar rechts boven provinciewapentje. Kz. jaartal onder het wapen in cartouche, mt. burcht boven de kroon. Kabelrand. Zeer fraai +. (province of Zeeland, 1580-1795, half ducaton or half silver rider of 1773, type II. Obverse: mounted knight charges right over the provincial arms; reverse: the date in a cartouche under the crowned arms supported by two lions; cabled edge. This type was struck for Zeeland 1766-75, 1785, 1790-93 with many overdates, suggesting extensive recycling of old dies.
