Wurzburg 1795-Rf MM 20 kreuzer KM-451
This specimen was lot 1324 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €110 (about US$149 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, WÜRZBURG, Evêché, Georg Carl von Fechenbach (1795-1802), AR 20 Kreuzer, 1795. D/ B. à d., vêtu du manteau épiscopal. R/ La Madone à l'enfant sur une nuée. Légers défauts de flan. Très Beau à Superbe. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, George Charles of Fechbach, 1795-1802, silver twenty kreuzer of 1795. Obverse: bust right, in clerical garb; reverse: the Madonna and Child on a cloud. Minor planchet faults, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
The bishop issued six different twenty kreuzer in 1795 (KM 447, 448, 449, 450, 451, 452), of which this is the most available. Many of the bishops were also bishops of Bamberg but not Georg Carl. His domain was secularized in 1803 and annexed to Bavaria, where it remains. Twenty kreuzer = 1/6 thaler in the late eighteenth century.
