This specimen was lot 29807 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Germany, Wurzburg. Christoph Franz von Hutten gold 2 Ducats ND (1724) AU58 NGC. Boldly struck but produced from a somewhat worn die- there are multiple die breaks noted on the reverse radiating in from the edges. Nonetheless, an attractive piece when held in hand, with just a few marks noted under magnification." This issue was accompanied by half (KM 273) and one ducat (KM 276) pieces. The territory was annexed to Bavaria in 1803.
