Künker Auction 425, lot 2461

This specimen was lot 2461 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,266 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN AB 1871 · REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, WÜRTTEMBERG Wilhelm II., 1891-1918. 5 Mark 1903. Feine Patina, winz. Kratzer, polierte Platte. (Germany, kingdom of Wurttemberg, William II, 1891-1918, five mark of 1903. Fine patina, hairlines, proof.)"

This five mark piece was issued from the Freudenstadt mint for Württemberg in 1902. Altho all the various states of the German Empire were entitled to strike silver five mark coins, many emitted only a few. This Württemberg type is known for 1892-1913 and is quite common.

Recorded mintage: 722,182.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, .803 troy oz ASW, 38 mm diameter, lettered edge.
