This specimen was lot 3754 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 5 Mark, 1903-E. NGC MS-64. Toned with areas of bright luster. From the Rockaway Collection." This type of 1903-04 is somewhat scarcer than the death commemoratives issued at the time, such as Dav-904.
Recorded mintage: 536,298 plus 50 proofs.
Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, .798 troy oz AGW, 38 mm diameter.
