Sincona sale 9, lot 3897

This specimen was lot 3897 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$379 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Baden, Grossherzogtum Münzstätte Karlsruhe Friedrich I. 1852-1907. 5 Mark 1903. Fast FDC. (Grand duchy of Baden, Frederick I, 1852-1907, five mark of 1903, choice uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1902-07 and is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 439,000.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
