This five mark piece was issued from the Stuttgart mint for Wurttemberg in 1902. Altho all the various states of the German Empire were entitled to strike silver five mark coins, many emitted only a few. This Wurttemberg type is known for 1892-1913 and is quite common. This specimen was lot 13159 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurttemberg. 5 Mark, 1907-F. NGC PROOF-63."

Recorded mintage: 436,321 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, .803 troy oz ASW.
