This specimen was lot 33541 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $6,600. The lot description[1] noted, "German States: Lübeck. Free City Proof 5 Mark 1907-A PR68★ NGC, Berlin mint. Hands down the finest 5 Mark this cataloger has had the pleasure of handling, even when considering the Cape Coral Collection that was offered earlier this year, featuring a nearly perfect conditional preservation and an unimaginable visual character, fully elevated by vibrant neon tones. Best appreciated when viewed in-hand and a sole "top pop" worthy of advanced consideration. Ex. Rarcoa Auction (March 1985, Lot 486)." This type was struck 1904, 1907-08 and 1913. It is scarce.
