Künker sale 336, lot 6639

This specimen was lot 6639 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$5,758 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KONIGREICH, Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. Dukat 1813. GOLD. RR Leicht justiert, winz. Randfehler, vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Wurttemberg, Frederick I, 1806-16, ducat of 1813. Rare, light adjustment marks, small rim nicks, extremely fine.)"

The gold coinage of this ruler is very scanty. We note a friedrichs d'or of 1810, a ducat of 1808 and this ducat, all very rare. The ducats of his successor, Wilhelm I, are scarce but appear in auctions with some frequency.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.50 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.48 g.

Catalog reference: KM 523, Divo/S. 226; Fr-3609; Schl. 911.
