The ducat was struck in the Dutch provinces throughout the eighteenth century. It is recorded from Westfriesland with various mintmarks until 1791. This subtype, with a turnip mintmark, is listed for 1696-97, 1716-37, 1743 and 1748-49. Double ducats also exist but are rare. This specimen is salvaged from a shipwreck and is a common date.
