Sincona sale 90, lot 1493

This specimen was lot 1493 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"NIEDERLANDE Westfriesland, Provinz, Dukat 1717, Utrecht. Von grösster Seltenheit. Einziges bekanntes Exemplar. Sehr schön. Gewellt. (Netherlands, province of Westfriesland, ducat of 1717, Utrecht mint. Of the highest rarity. The only known specimen, Very fine, Wavy flan.)"

This subtype, with a turnip mintmark, is listed for 1696-97, 1716-37, 1743 and 1748-49. Other dates may exist. Thousands of 1729's exist, salvaged from a shipwreck, but all the other dates are rare.
