Westfriesland 1725 1/2 gulden
This specimen was lot 908 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$18,581 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"THE NETHERLANDS | Westfriesland, Provinz. 2 Dukaten 1725. Goldabschlag von den Stempel des 1/2 Guldens. Stehende Holländische Magd - Staande Nederlandse maagd. Sehr selten. Prachtexemplar mit feinem Prägeglanz. (Netherlands, province of Westfriesland, double ducat of 1725, off metal strike using half gulden dies, standing Dutch maid. Very rare. NGC MS64, Cabinet piece with nice mint luster.)"
This type was struck in gold for presentation 1725, 1727 and 1737. The circulation issues, struck in 4.95 g, 0.583 fine silver, were made 1780, 1785-86.
